Background

Kisoro  Institute of Health Sciences (KIHS) was established as a specialized constituent institute operating under the umbrella of Kisoro International University (KIU). Located in Kisoro Municipality, Southwestern Uganda – a region known for its unique geographical position bordering Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo – the Institute’s founding was largely driven by the pressing need to address the shortage of qualified healthcare professionals within the Kigezi sub-region and Uganda at large. Recognizing the critical gap in accessible, quality health sciences training, KIU strategically developed this Institute to specifically focus on educating and equipping individuals with the necessary skills to serve effectively in various healthcare settings, thereby aiming to improve health service delivery and outcomes in the community from its inception.
