The Kisoro Institute of Health Sciences is dedicated to excellence in health sciences education, research, and community service. The Institute focuses on training competent, ethical, and compassionate healthcare professionals prepared to meet the dynamic health needs of Uganda and the wider region. We offers a range of accredited diploma and potentially degree programs in crucial health disciplines, commonly including areas such as Clinical Medicine and Community Health, Nursing Science, and Midwifery.
The Institute emphasizes a blended learning approach, combining rigorous theoretical instruction with extensive hands-on practical training and clinical placements in affiliated hospitals and health centers. This ensures graduates are not only knowledgeable but also possess the practical competencies required for immediate impact in the healthcare workforce. Committed to producing cadres relevant to local and national health priorities, KIU-IHS strives to foster critical thinking, professionalism, and a commitment to lifelong learning among its students, ultimately contributing significantly to strengthening the Ugandan healthcare system.
Our Journey
The Institute was established in 2023 and a complete team of qualified and committed staff was employed, following acquisition of a provisional license from the statutory bodies listed above. The student population however, the population rose to 197 students within 3 years. Currently the college operates on a permanent license .
We are committed to academic excellence through effective mentoring within the institution and affiliated hospitals or health centers. The pioneer set of students is expected to graduate soon having completed their training in December 2023.
